"JCT Football Academy's
Purpose & Mission" |
|
The credit of setting up a Football Academy goes to Mr. Samir Thapar, Vice
Chairman and Managing Director of JCT Limited. Not only is he a huge sports
enthusiast but also walks the talk by investing in the sport and the youth of
the country.
Purpose: The task is to provide an opportunity where the young
can nurture their talent with a sense of direction and purpose. Thereby
enabling them to stay the course and make a career out of their love for
football.
Mission: To build in today’s youth a sense of confidence that the
country recognizes and hence, rewards their abilities. Another happy by-product of the
academy is to protect the youth from drug abuse by involving them in sports and
educational activities.

Under-19 football academy

|
JCT established its Under-19 Football academy at Phagwara in the year 1998 by
making arrangements with Guru Nanak College, Phagwara.
|
The JCT management, in collaboration with the Guru Nanak College Managing
Committee has been providing the best of facilities to the academy players.
|
|
|
The total expenditure of the academy is being met by JCT Limited. Within a
short span since its inception, the JCT Football Academy has produced many
National/International level footballers, who are gaining status in the
top clubs of India.
|
Every year, JCT academy players as well as coaches, are widely involved with
the Punjab State and represent the state across various national tournaments
such as Senior Nationals, Santosh Trophy, National Games, Under-21 and Junior
Nationals.

Facilities being provided at academy
|
|
Boarding & Lodging :
|
Free decent boarding and lodging is being provided
to the academy players in its campus under the advice of an expert dietitian.
In order to provide rich diet to the academy players, JCT management has
provided one experienced cook for preparation of meals
according to the choice of the academy players.

Medical:
|
All the players of the academy are being provided free medical treatment
and medicine by the Academy Management during play;
practice/training sessions and during travel. The academy players are covered
under the Group Medical Insurance Scheme.
|
Education:
|
JCT management has made arrangements with the Guru Nanak College, Phagwara, for
providing free education to the Academy Players (i.e. Full Fee
concession, absolutely free literature and extra coaching classes by the
Lecturers of the College)
|
Sports Kits:
|
JCT management has been providing free sports kits and other
clothing to all the academy players.
|
Monthly stipend:
|
JCT management provides monthly stipend ranging between from Rs.500/- to
Rs.5000/- to the extra-ordinary football players of the academy every year.
|
Training Facilities:
|
Basic training equipments/facilities are being provided to the
academy. One experienced ground-man has been provided to the
academy for maintaining its practice ground in Guru Nanak College, Phagwara.
JCT management has been providing 50 footballs to the academy players per annum
for their practice sessions. JCT academy has complete ultra modern gymnasium
within its campus.

Coaching Staff: |
JCT management has appointed the following experienced hands for training at
the academy:
Jagir Singh (Ex JCT Player and Retired Coach of Sports Authority of India):
He has a Diploma in Football Coaching from National Institute of Sports
(NIS) Patiala and the AFC–C License Course, as Football Coach.
Sital Singh, (Retired. Director Physical Education):
He is associated with the academy as its Manager.
Kuldip Singh, (Ex JCT Player & Assistant Football Coach JCT):
He has to his credit the AFC C Licence Coaching Course, also visits the
academy, providing his services as Football Coach from time to time.

Under-16 football academy
(Rurka Kalan)
|
|
In the year 2005, Mr. Samir Thapar felt that there was a pressing need of one
more football academy at the grass-root level to guide and train potential
sports children from the age of 10 onwards. To provide for this, JCT took over
an already running football academy (Between 10 to Under-16 years of age).

|
It was previously run by the Youth Football Club, Rurka Kalan. JCT as part of
its mentoring role would provide the necessary funding, facilities and coaching
staff for the smooth running of this academy.
|
The JCT Rurka Kalan Football Academy regularly takes part in the Manchester
United Premier Football Cup being organised by the AIFF, and grass-root
league matches being organised under the aegis of the Punjab Football
Association and other organizers, which includes the Subroto Mukherjee Cup of
India and School Games under the School Games Federation of India.

Most
of the players of JCT Rurka Kalan Academy take part in the AIFF
Under-13/Under-14 Football Festivals every year, and in the events of School
Games Federation of India. JCT is taking care to provide best facilities to the
academy players.

|
Induction Of Cadets
|
|
A team of experts from this academy visits villages of Punjab state, where the
football is most popular. They choose youngsters (above the age of 9-10 years)
for imparting them necessary football coaching and groom them into skillful
performers.
|
|
|
The boys are inducted into the Academy in various age groups like U-10, U-12,
U-14 and U-16 by selection trials undertaken by an expert committee. A parents
meeting is held for briefing. Physical and technical assessment tests are also
held for the selection of candidates.

|
In order to spot talent, following tests are
conducted by the academy in each age group: |
Under-10 & Under-12
|

Small-sided game (5-a-side), speed and agility test.
|
Under-14
|

|
Small-sided game (5 and 7-a-side), dribbling test, shooting test, shuttle run
with ball test, aerobic test, explosive strength test speed and agility tests.
|
Under-16
|

|
Small-sided game (7-a-side), 11-a-side game, shooting test, aerobic
test,explosive strength test, speed and agility tests. |
|
After the completion of selection trials, the selection panel finalizes the
list of players in each age group based on their performance in the tests. A
panel of experts further assesses the game-playing abilities of the candidates
in small-sided games. The selected players are invited with their parents for
general briefing and meetings. In the meetings, parents and children are
briefed on the rules and regulations of the training program. Our officials
also take into consideration the general expectations of parents and guardians.
The candidates are selected for three months, and after three months of
training, they are again assessed by a panel of experts for their further
training in the Academy. Strict discipline is adhered to at the Academy campus.

Under-12 |

Duration: Training three
times a week. (minimum 100 training days annually)

Training program includes: Basic fundamental skills training,
basic fundamental movement training, general coordination, condition training,
technical training Part I and II, basic tactical training, mobility training,
condition and fun games, etc. Small-sided Games (5 and 7-a-side) No
competitions, only participation in festival type activities |

Under-14 |
|
Duration: Weekly five-time training
(minimum 250 training days annually) |
Training Programme includes: Basic skills & technical
training, Tactical training, Body conditioning, Speed & Agility training,
Basic strength training, Balance & Stability training, Mobility training
etc. Small-sided Games and 11-a-side Game. Competition Participation. Exposure
training. |

Under-16 |
|
Duration: Training 6-7 times a week (minimum 250 training days
annually)
|
Training Program includes: Advance technical training,
tactical training, individual training, body conditioning, speed and agility
training, basic strength training, mobility training, light weight training
(one session per week if players are in good condition), etc.
Small-sided game and 11-a-side games.

|
|
Experts, coaches and psychologists hold regular mental training sessions for
all age group players of the academy. |

Facilities being provided at Academy |
|
Boarding & Lodging : |
Free decent boarding and lodging is being provided to the Academy players in
its campus in Youth Sports Complex, Rurka Kalan. A healthy, nutritious diet is
provided to the Academy players. |
Medical: |
All the players of the Academy are provided free medical treatment and
medicine. Regular medical check-ups are done by renowned qualified doctors. A
trained physiotherapist is also associated with the Academy. |
Education: |
Education arrangements have been made with the Govt. Senior Secondary School,
Rurka Kalan, for providing free education to the academy players. Besides basic
education, arrangements have also been made for providing IT (Information
Technology) education to all the Under-15 players in its Youth Sports Complex,
Rurka Kalan |
Sports Kits: |
The JCT management has been providing free sports kits to all the Academy
players |
Training & Ground
Facilities: |
All the basic/scientific training equipments (including a gym) are provided to
the academy and sufficient amounts are being spent on maintaining the practice
grounds. |
Coaching Staff: |
Mr. Jatender Sharma:
He has a Diploma in Football Coaching from National Institute of Sports (NIS)
Patiala, the AFC–C License Course and a Ph.D. in Physical Education and has
been appointed as a Coach for imparting necessary training to the Academy
players.
Mr. Jasdeep Singh Bhogal:
He has a Certificate of Physical Education (C.P.Ed.), All India Football
Federation (AIFF) Grass-root Level Coaching Course, AIFF Youth Development
Coach Education Workshop and has undergone the AFC “C” Licence Coaching Course
and B.A. and M.A. as basic education. He has also been associated with the
Academy as Asst. Coach.
Mr. Kulwant Singh:
He is a well known ex-international player (represented India Sub Junior
Team in Burma Tour) and plays the role of a senior mentor.
Mr. Amarjit Singh Dari:
He has played for JCT Football team for 10 years and represented Punjab State
in Santosh Trophy often. He is involved with training of the Academy players.
The coaching and other sports staff, which includes a Computer Teacher, Grounds
men, a Hostel Warden, Receptionist, cooks and helpers of the Academy complete
the comprehensive academy staff requirements. |
